Rehabilitation Study for the Mundonguara Copper Mine, Mozambique

These Terms of Reference (ToR) define the objectives, scope, methodology, and implementation framework for a study on the rehabilitation of the former Mundonguara copper mine, located in the village of Manica, Manica province, Mozambique. The study is intended to guide the assessment and rehabilitation planning of degraded areas, ensuring clear objectives, technical coherence and effective solution to mitigate environmental impacts. The study identifies ways to support the safe and sustainable reintegration of the site into the natural environment, enabling it to serve the local community. This activity is undertaken within the framework of the technical cooperation project “Responsible supply chains for raw materials and sustainable production in the mining sector in Mozambique”, implemented by German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique (MIREME), with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Under this framework, a consultant will be engaged to carry out the rehabilitation study of the Mundonguara mine, with a training part for the local Mine Inspection Team (IGREME).
